ABOUT US
YAPARI founded in August 1, 1988, as a non-profit, charity,
focusing on educational assistance for 1.500
children and youth/
year.
Since 1988 - present, YAPARI dedicate for disadvantage communities, living in slum and prone to flooding in 5 municipties of Jakarta City.
Since 2012, YAPARI working in 16 villages in Xentral in Central East, South, and south Jakarta, self-help groups/ CBOs.
At
present we support 1.500 needy children and youngsters, living in slum area’s
in Jakarta with education, health care, vocational training and legal aid (such
as helping children to obtain an official birth certificate). Moreover we
assist the poor families of the children to improve their economic situation by
organizing them into so called “saving- and credit groups”. We have established
45 such groups KSM,
with a
total membership of about 3.000 persons. In times of emergencies (floods, fires
in slum area’s) we execute emergency relief programs to support victims.
During
the past 24 years a total of 17.400 children have obtained school education
certificate (primary or secondary education) with the support of YAPARI. Through specific vocational training courses
and support to “saving and credit unions” YAPARI played a major role in the
improvement of the economic situation of 6.500 families and lifting them out of
the poverty. Over the years 20.000 people received emergency relief support.
During the January 2013 floods we supported 3.000 families with food, medicines
and hygienic kids.
